How do you replace the filter?
Use only PUR brand blue faucet mount filters - PUR filter cartridge #RF-4050 L or RF-9999 (same filters used in PUR faucet mount system). Replacement filters are available at most major retail stores, including: home improvement stores, discount stores, drug stores, hardware stores and grocery stores. The filter life is up to 100 gallons or approximately 3 months.
NOTE: You cannot clean a filter cartridge. Do not remove the filter unless you intend to replace it, the system will not operate without one. Removing a filter resets the system.

A. The system cannot be in operation when changing the filter. Make sure the handle (1) is in the off (down) position. You DO NOT need to shut off the water supply lines.
B. Press air release valve (1) prior to unscrewing the filter shuttle/housing (2). Note: You can use the wrench (3) supplied with the unit to help loosen the housing. If you encounter difficulty unthreading the filter housing, remove unit from wall mount bracket to replace filter cartridge. WARNING: Be sure to remove the light pipe (4) before removing the filter unit (see page 6 of the owners manual).
C. Bring the shuttle to the kitchen sink; remove the old filter and any water in the shuttle.
D. Insert a new PUR filter. Make sure the filter and shuttle are properly aligned.
E. Reattach the filter shuttle to the system by screwing into place. Do not overtighten.
F. Press air release valve (Refer to page 9 step B of the owners manual). Run the water for 5 minutes to flush the filter cartridge. Then before each use, run water for 5 seconds to reactivate the filter.

How easy/difficult is it to install Simply PUR?
The Simply PUR system is relatively simple to install -- no more difficult than a faucet installation. All hoses, connectors and mounting hardware are included in the box. Below is a brief summary of the installation process. See the Owners Manual for complete details. -
Mount the filter spout to the sink/counter top. This takes one mounting nut.
-
Mount the below the sink filtration system to the cabinet wall in a location that is easy to access for replacing filters (typically just inside the cabinet door). This is the most difficult part of the installation and requires 2 screws to be installed in the cabinet wall to support the mounting bracket. Install the filter and batteries (included) into the filter system.
-
Make hose connections. Most connections use Quick Connect® or other fittings that do not require tools.
-
Connect the system to the cold water supply. A brass "T" is provided to allow the faucet and filter system to both be connected to the cold water. This hose connection requires a wrench.
-
Test and flush the system and it is ready for use.
